From the Editor-in-Chief
In this issue of The Living Pulpit we focus on ecology. You will find several articles relating to this issue and some suggested resources to further investigate the topic. We hope that you find this material helpful to grappling with our current ecological crisis.
In addition to our focus on ecology, we are also centered on preaching during the Easter Season. Presentations are made on the lectionary texts from Palm Sunday through the end of June. As always we hope that his helpful to you.
We are introducing a new feature with this issue on “The Art of Preaching.” In each future issue we will feature an article on some aspect of this art. Our first articles is a tribute to the new Senior Minister at Riverside Church in New York, Dr. Brad Braxton, written by his former student, Rev. Robyn Byrd Michalove, where she serves as an Associate Pastor in Forth Worth, Texas.
We would love to receive contributions from our readers regarding The Art of Preaching. Please feel free to share your insights with me at krussell@nyts.edu. As we make this transition to being an on-line journal, we thank you for your patience. I hope that you will feel that “we are getting the hang of it” as we proceed. I am always interested in your feedback.
I want to thank the Rev. Douglas Stivison who has served as Editor of this journal for several years. Doug, while still being involved with the journal, will be spending the majority of his time serving as pastor of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Haworth, NJ. I am grateful to Doug for his assistance as we transition to my assuming leadership as editor of The Living Pulpit.
The Living Pulpit in cooperation with New York Theological Seminary will be sponsoring an Institute of Preaching this summer in New York. Please see this issue for details. We are planning on doing more conference/ institute kind of events in the future.
We hope that you will have a powerfilled Easter Season.
