Dr. Stephen A. Reed is Professor and Chair of the Religion and Philosophy Department at the University of Jamestown, Jamestown, North Dakota. He has been in this position since 1997. He and his wife Mary sing in the choir and teach Sunday School at the United Presbyterian Church of Jamestown. Stephen continues to serve as pastoral supply at various churches around North Dakota, most recently at Edgely and Lamoure.

In order to shed understanding on the reconciliation sought by The Confession of 1967, several biblical passages illustrate how reconciliation was a unifying force in scripture. We are able to simultaneously look at history and the present to see how fellowship does not have to be limited to likeness of traditions and convictions. The desire of God’s intent to affect all is fully felt.

In a dialogue between Jesus and the Sadducees we learn that they did not believe in the resurrection. One might think that we should use only the New Testament when we want to preach and teach about resurrection. Still, New Testament writers do use resurrection language from Old Testament texts.
