Demetra Velisarios Jaquet, M.Div., has been Adjunct Faculty in the School for Professional Studies, Regis University, Denver since 1990, and teaches in the Departments of Religious Studies, Philosophy, and Psychology, as well as facilitating Guided Independent Studies and Capstone courses in those areas. She is a Pastoral Counselor, Spiritual Director and cross-cultural counselor at PCD Counseling in Denver, plus has five years experience as a Hospice and Hospital Chaplain. She is Chair of the Pastoral Care Committee at St. Catherine Greek Orthodox Church, Greenwood Village, Colorado, where she is also a member. She holds a B.A. in Philosophy and English from Augustana College, Rock Island, Illinois, an M.Div. in Pastoral Counseling from Iliff School of Theology, Denver, and a Certificate in Orthodox Studies from Holy Cross Orthodox School of Theology, Brookline, Mass. She is a Fellow in the American Association of Pastoral Counselors, where she serves as Regional Chair of Leadership Development for the Rocky Mountain/Plains Region. She is also a Board Certified Chaplain in the Association for Professional Chaplains, and a Member of the American Academy of Religion. She is International Chair of the Women’s Orthodox Ministries and Education Network (WOMEN), North American Chair of Orthodox People Together (OPT), and on the steering committee for Orthodox Christian Association of Medicine, Psychology and Religion (OCAMPR). She is Director of the Internet ecumenical mentoring network for women, "Gifts of the Spirit- Ministries Mentoring", based in Denver. She functions on the Editorial Board of the St. Nina Quarterly, and as Director of Macrina Books.

The Feast of Pentecost is not simply the celebration of an event which took place centuries ago. It is the constant renewal of relationship as sacrament in Church and community. We all have died and risen with the Messiah, and we all have received His Most Holy Spirit.
